How it all Started
Jen started Fit 2 Fly in 2013, designing circus apparel for her circus and dance performance colleagues and friends. Starting with apparel booths at recitals and events with samples to try on, she would offer fabric swatches and size charts to choose from, and make each of the garments from scratch, delivering to the customer individually.
In 2018, as the success of her pop-ups grew, Jen decided to set up her shop full-time within Studio Flux, a local circus hub for classes, and word quickly spread to performers all around the GTA. Jen’s positive, friendly, and personalized customer service offered customers an entirely fresh and unique shopping experience. Rather than just choosing something off the rack and heading up to a cashier, Jen personally helps every customer herself, making recommendations on fabrics, fit and style, to suit everyone’s individual needs.
In April 2021, Jen took an exciting opportunity to expand, and reach out to the vibrant and lively community on the Danforth. It was great to meet many new people, and be on a main street but as we all evolved and grew online through the Covid 19 Pandemic, Fit 2 Fly took flight online with local and international connections.
This exciting shift gave Jen and her partner Mike @storyboardfurniture the idea to build their tiny sustainable dream home in Marmora, Ontario, approx. 2.5 hours East of Toronto. There, they will continue their creative work, running their businesses from home, while learning more about growing our own food, living off the land, and ultimately becoming more and more self-sufficient.
The Fit 2 Fly Shop is continuing online as it always has been, with a wide selection of fabrics, sizes, and garment options. You can also find Fit 2 Fly available in a number of various Canadian and International studios.
Jen looks forward to making many new friends and connections within the circus community, and beyond. She also hopes to inspire others to reach for the stars and follow their true self.
